RPF Secretary General Ngarambe meets party parliamentary caucus

The Secretary General of the ruling RPF-Inkotanyi, François Ngarambe has urged members of the party's parliamentary caucus to always put above anything else, the interest of the Rwandan people.

S.G Ngarambe was addressing the caucus members during an one-day training that was held on Sunday at the party headquarters in Rusororo.

He reminded them that RPF-Inkotanyi is a party built on the general principle of promoting the aspirations of the common people, urging them to always be mindful of this in their legislative work.

“You must always caucus to make sure you have a common position in a parliamentary debate and that position should be in line with the party aspirations,” he told the legislators, majority of whom new in parliament.

The lawmakers were elected in the legislative elections held in September 2018.

The S.G urged the MPs to read widely about the party's policy position on various issues before they can make a contribution on the parliamentary floor.

“Unlike other parliaments where a lawmaker has a number of staff to help them do research and other things, you will be your own researchers, which means you have to read widely,” he said.

He said that the party has policy position papers on various aspects, which he invited them to read and internalise to make them able representatives of RPF and by extension, the Rwandan people.

Meanwhile, Ngarambe reminded the legislators that humility is a key etiquette for RPF-Inkotanyi, which he said must cut across; the general citizenry, other government organs and members of other parties represented in parliament.

“You can push our party's agenda and still remain respectful of the views of our partners from other political organisations,” he said.

He also challenged them to work closely with other organs of the state, saying that the government oversight role calls for proper understanding of issues at hand.

The training brought together 53 members of the party caucus.
